Sweet Baby Ray's barbecue sauce was created in the early 1980s by Chicago brothers Dave and Larry Raymond. The sauce was named after a nickname Dave received while playing basketball. While selling the sauce business in 2005, Dave Raymond held onto the name Sweet Baby Ray's and operates two restaurants in the Chicago area under that name.
