Nabisco
Nabisco was formed in 1898 when the New York Biscuit Company and the American Biscuit and Manufacturing Company merged and acquired over 100 bakeries. After the merger, the company quickly rose to the top of cookie and cracker production and marketing in America, thanks to its founders, Adolphus Green and William Moore. The company moved its headquarters from Chicago to New York City in 1906.
Americans became accustomed to snack foods such as Oreo cookies, Barnum’s animal crackers, Honey Maid Grahams, Ritz crackers, and Wheat Thins. Planters Peanuts, Fleishmann’s margarine and spreads, A1 Steak Sauce, and Grey Poupon mustards were later introduced to the Nabisco product line.
