Charleston Chew
Created in 1925 by the Fox-Cross Candy Company, Charleston Chew is a flavoured nougat candy bar layered with a chocolate-flavoured coating. You can find this nougat bar available in vanilla, chocolate, and strawberry flavours.
Donley Cross, a former actor, created the Charleston Chew with his friend Charlie Fox, who founded the Fox-Cross Candy Company in 1920. The candy was named after the Charleston dance, an early 1900’s popular dance style, and it was first made with vanilla nougat, coated in milk chocolate.
The candy has a lovely scent, similar to vanilla candles. It is delicate enough to chew up or bite in half, being a luscious chew until the end.
