PayDay

PayDay candy bars are candy bars with salted peanuts, rolled around a sweet caramel centre with a nougat-like consistency, introduced by the Hollywood Candy Company in 1932.

Hollywood Candy Company initially introduced PayDay in 1932. In the Great Depression, the dense peanut outside layer of the candy was marketed as a meal replacement during the Great Depression because its name comes from being produced on payday.

PayDay candy bars contain 240 calories and 7 grams of protein, the same as protein bars. As well, Peanuts make up the majority of the candy bar’s fat, unlike most candy, which is mostly sugar.
